None of us had a foolproof plan or a blueprint to follow. We were a small group of friends trying to figure out fatherhood and becoming dads for the first time. We were excited but also overwhelmed by the responsibility ahead.

We had seen examples of fatherhood—some great, some good, and some absent—but we were about to experience it firsthand.

As sons, we knew what kind of dads we didn’t want to be. But figuring out the dads we aspired to become? For us, that required tapping into wisdom beyond ourselves, and locking our eyes on the Heavenly Father.

We realized that we might never get it perfect, but we committed to prepare our minds and hearts as much as possible for the arrival of our little ones.
